moines metro. moderate to heavy snow is expected at times and wind speeds will increase as well. winds will be strong from the north-northeast at 20 to 30 mph, gusts to 40 mph. this will create very difficult driving conditions all day through the start of wednesday. a winter storm warning is in effect for those southwest and southeast of des moines until 6 am wednesday. the snow will continue to strengthen during the morning commute. the heaviest snow in the metro will fall before 1 pm. heavy snow will continue in northwest iowa through the day. totals will be in the 3 to 6" range through central iowa, including des moines, with totals 8" + in northwest iowa. southeast iowa will see mainly rain. blowing snow will continue to be a problem mainly in northwest iowa through early wednesday morning. it will be drier and calmer through the end of the week with day time

call... hillary clinton brings in less than half a percentage point more than bernie sanders for the win... clinton with 49.9 percent. sanders with 49.5 percent. that's a difference of just five votes. martin o'malley brought in one percent with just 8 votes. for the republicans, another relatively tight race. ted cruz takes the lead with 28 percent. donald trump falls 4 percent behind him with 24 percent. and marco rubio surges nearby at 23 percent. ben carson 9 percent. rand paul 5 percent. jeb bush 3 percent. carly fiorina 2 percent. john kasich 2 percent. mike huckabee 2 percent. chris christie 2 percent. rick santorum 1 percent. jim gilmore 0 percent. for two of those candidates, their race to the white house is over. low support has caused both

meanwhile ted cruz left last night with more certainty. nats cheering the republican winner celebrated with supporters at the iowa state fairgrounds last night. he credits his win in iowa to his strong ground game. he completed the 'full grassley' visiting all of iowas 99 counties finishing up in jefferson before the caucuses. cruz says he made it a point to talk one- on-one with voters. he told the crowd he will continue to push forward on his conservative republican is the next president. 628 'tonight is victory for the grassroots, tonight is a victory for courageous conservatives across iowa and all across this great nation.645 cruz pulled in over 51 thousand

coming up next....a fifth grade chance to hit the slopes this week. but for students with mobility challenges, they almost couldn't go. luckily one man took the day off work to volunteer, giving those students an

school field trips can be the best part of going to school for children... but students with disabilities can sometimes be left behind. in minnesota... two students with mobility challenges were able to participate in a class ski trip thanks to adaptive skis and helpful volunteers.

"we're going skiing!" hayle and skylar are both fifth graders... they are beyond excited to hit the slopes with their friends. the two girls are disabled and get to participate with a special adaptive ski. parents of children with disabilities say this is a special outing because they don't always get to go. "they get left behind quite a bit, it better now than what it used to be for sure" craig dummer is a volunteer with hope inc. he doesn't have any children participating in the field trip or that are disabled... but he took the day off from his job so hayle and skylar could come. "what a great opportunity to take the day off, it's our first day on the hill this year so a lot of energy and excitement, so i was happy to come out and help" the adaptive ski costs roughly about $4,000 and weighs about 60 pounds. dummer along with other volunteers must be trained to use it. the volunteer controls the speed and steers the ski. dummer says king off was well worth e experience. eeing the smiling faces of the ds coming down and hearing their voritea, if it's coming wn the hill or t ride up the air lift" mother za says the volunteers are angels and happy her ughter codve normalcy.
